Moon Knight

The season finale of Moon Knight left me with a lot of feelings. The Disney+ series just ended its 6 episode run last Wednesday, May 4th. I wasn't sure what to expect going into the series, but I was pleasantly surprised. I especially liked how the series dealt with mental health, something that is not often done right.

Moon Knight is about Marc Spector, a man who has multiple personalities. He was once a mercenary for hire, but through fantastical circumstances becomes the avatar of the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu. The series follows him, and his second personality, Steven Grant, as he tries to stop Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) from releasing the Egyptian goddess, Ammit, upon the world.

Oscar Isaac was fantastic showing the duality of Steven Grant and Marc Spector. When he played Steven, he had the air of a man who was lost and just going through the motions. But as Marc, he was full of life and fighting for what he believed in. The supporting cast was also great, with May Calamawy playing Layla El-Faouly, who became one of my favorite characters in the series, and Ethan Hawke as the composed but commandeering Arthur Harrow.

I loved that Marvel and the writers kept the story very self-contained. It didn't feel like they stuffed the series with unnecessary cameos, and overly connected it to the greater cinematic universe. I guess some might not like it, since they feel like the greater story is the best thing about Marvel, but it was nice to get a palette cleanser right before Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which delivered on the connected universe front.

I hope we see more of Moon Knight in the future, but if this is the only season we get, it was a great one. Moon Knight (Season 1 on Disney+) was a perfect introduction to the character and a much-needed stand-alone story for the Marvel behemoth.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally here! I thought the movie was amazing and gave fans a lot of what we wanted to see, but also found time to have a deeper story about finding happiness and contentment.

The movie finds Dr. Strange trying to help an interdimensional traveler, America Chavez, escape an unknown pursuer, who wants to take her power to travel between universes to wreak havoc in the multiverse. Strange goes to Scarlet Witch for help who like Strange is having a hard time finding happiness and contentment after all the events of the Infinity Saga.

Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch is one of the best things about this movie. She was badass and powerful, but also vulnerable and human. Her motivation in the movie is very relatable. I also think we finally answered the question of who is the most powerful Avenger - it's Scarlet Witch, and it's not even close.

The visuals in this movie are mind-bending and gorgeous. One of the things I loved about the first Dr. Strange movie is that they didn't shy away from weird and trippy visuals, and this sequel is no exception. When Strange and Chavez travel between worlds for the first time and you get to see all these different art styles all at once is exactly what I love about Marvel.

This movie is a must-watch for any Marvel fan, but I do recommend getting caught up with WandaVisionon Disney+ before watching. Overall, a solid 8 out of 10.

Guardian’s of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Disney has started previews for a brand new roller coaster coming to EPCOT. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is set to open May 27th, 2022, and will be one of the most thrilling rides at Disney World. Guests will be taken on a journey with the Guardians of the Galaxy team as they battle Eson to save the galaxy from destruction.

I got to ride during the Annual Passholder event on Monday and it was incredible. The ride is in a brand new massive building, which is located in the back of Future World. Once you walk past the Nova starship outside, you are transported to another world. The queue features cool memorabilia and tons of easter eggs from the movies.

When you get in your car, you are taken on an exciting new roller coaster ride that can rotate your seat 360 degrees depending on where the excitement is. Despite the spinning, the ride is actually really smooth and the effects are amazing. I highly recommend riding this new coaster when it opens on May 27th.
